DR. JOHN T. DEARBORN BIO

Dr. John T. Dearborn Dr. John T. Dearborn
On behalf of my staff, I want to welcome you to our orthopaedic practice, the Institute for Joint Restoration, and this informational website. I'd like to encourage you to review our history, which tells you a great deal about who we are and where we are headed. Become familiar with our training and experience, as well as our innovative methods.

Our program has two critical areas of focus: unparalleled compassionate patient care and advancement of our field via clinical research. In order to accomplish these goals, we have intentionally limited our focus to the surgical treatment of hip and knee arthritis, in order to offer the highest level of care possible. In addition to total hip, total knee and partial knee replacement surgery, we also perform more complex revision procedures. We value strong teamwork and have been blessed with a talented and caring group of people to help deliver the highest quality joint replacement care. We work closely with physician assistants, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and discharge planners to anticipate and meet the needs of our patients. With the help of our team, my partner Dr. Sah and I perform over 1500 joint replacement procedures annually. Our extensive clinic research program investigates the latest technology in less invasive surgical techniques, implant fixation options, methods of blood conservation to avoid the need for blood transfusions, alternative bearing surfaces to make joint replacement implants last longer, and implant designs which preserve bone and accommodate the anatomical differences between men and women. We continue to monitor the function of thousands of implants, in order to identify the best materials, designs and techniques. Our data is widely referenced and has been presented all over the world.

Far more important to me than my training or what I have accomplished is my identity as a follower of Jesus Christ. This may seem like too much information to some readers, and I respect that. If you take a minute to really think about it, you see that everyone is serving something, whether it is work, family, the pursuit of wealth, power, or whatever else people believe will make them happy. I have learned through personal experience, as well as by observing the lives of others, that these pursuits alone do not reliably provide lasting joy. Regardless of my performance, I have found forgiveness, unconditional love and acceptance through placing my faith in Jesus. Nothing that the world offers can compare with this. The apostle Paul came to the same conclusion (Phil 3) as did C.S. Lewis. If you are curious, I welcome questions about why I believe what I believe.
